The dedication, date St. Paul's Church Yard, 12th October 1831, reads: 'The Authoress, from extreme indisposition, being unable to correct and continue this edition of Stories from English History, has permitted her work to undergo revision of a Literary Gentleman, whose sketch of the late Reign and Tables of the Alliances and Descendants of the British Sovereigns, it is hoped will be found valuable additions to the work.'
